Rescued Kitten Finds Home with Motherly Cat in the Park

Approximately two months ago, a lone, tiny kitten was discovered in a park, seemingly abandoned. Despite efforts to locate the owner, no one stepped forward to claim the adorable little furball.
At just one week old, it became evident that the orphaned kitten needed the care of a nurturing mother or round-the-clock attention from a bottle feeder. Realizing the kitten’s dire situation, the compassionate finder reached out to their local rescue organization, Be Their Voice Animal Rescue, for assistance.
Aimee, a dedicated board member of the rescue, quickly took charge upon receiving the plea for help. She welcomed the orphaned kitten into her care, hatching a thoughtful plan for his future.
A few weeks before the rescue of this little kitten, Aimee had opened her home to a mother cat named Lucy and her six adorable kittens, who had been born in a shelter. Lucy, having been freed from the confines of the shelter, was overflowing with happiness to be in a comfortable home.
The moment she emerged from her carrier, Lucy began to purr and immediately sought affection.
The presence of a nurturing mother is vital for the well-being of a newborn kitten. Aimee introduced the little orphan to Lucy, hoping she would accept him into her family.
Within moments, Lucy wholeheartedly embraced the new addition, taking care of him and allowing him to nurse alongside her own kittens. Despite being the smallest in the litter, the rescued kitten asserted himself, vying for Mama’s attention and snuggling up to her for extra tender loving care.
While Lucy nurtured all seven kittens, Aimee continued to provide supplementary feedings for the rescued baby to ensure he caught up in weight.
“He would purr and seek cuddles after every feeding. I thought it might be an occasional thing, but it happened every time,” Aimee shared with Love Meow.
Despite being two weeks younger, the kitten, now known as Rerun, managed to keep pace with his siblings, reaching milestones as they grew. He appeared almost as large as the other kittens.
Rerun never missed a post-meal cuddle session with his foster mother.
He would drape himself over her neck, nuzzle her face, cuddle on her chest, or wrap his tiny arms around her leg, clinging to her until he drifted off to sleep.
“He engaged in play with his adopted siblings, but he seemed to particularly relish human interaction. He’s a Velcro kitty.”
When his fellow kittens attempted to roughhouse with him, Rerun would playfully swipe at them with one paw while clinging tightly to his foster mom with the other.
As much as he enjoyed playtime with his siblings, he insisted on being near his human companions whenever possible.
Whenever Aimee was not present in the kitten room, Rerun would join his fellow kittens in a cozy snuggle-pile. It seemed that he was always at the heart of every cuddle-fest.
Rerun has grown remarkably since his rescue from the park as a tiny orphan.
Some things never change; he clung to his foster mom from the very beginning and continues to do so with his human family to this day.
When a potential adopter came to meet the feline crew to find their perfect match, Rerun wasted no time making his presence known. “He climbed into her lap and instantly made himself right at home.”
The affectionate boy purred incessantly until he drifted off to sleep in the arms of the adopter. Needless to say, he solidified the choice for the adopter that day.
“Rerun (now Pita) found his forever home. His new brother, Pickles, wasted no time in welcoming Pita to the family. He’s showing Pita all the toys and beds,” Aimee shared.
Pita has blossomed into a magnificent young cat with a charismatic personality. Now, he has a loving family to cuddle with every day.
