Recipe for rum balls (easy, festive and watery!)

Can You Freeze Rum Balls?
Rum balls freeze well for up to three months. Chill them in the refrigerator until they’re firm, then place them in a freezer bag and a plastic (freezable) container to prevent freezer burn. It’s best to freeze them without any coatings – cocoa, nuts, or crushed cookies – as they can become soggy when thawed.
Since rum doesn’t freeze completely, you can enjoy rum balls straight out of the freezer or let them sit at room temperature until they soften.
Freezing allows you to prepare them in advance. I often make a large batch on a quiet November weekend in preparation for the holidays.

How to Store Rum Balls
What’s great about rum balls is that they only get better with time.
The flavors continue to develop for days after they’re made. So, it’s best to prepare them a few days before you need them.
In the refrigerator, rum balls will hold their shape and develop their rich flavors for up to two weeks.
Remember not to coat them until you’re ready to serve.
Whether you opt for powdered sugar, cocoa, nuts, or cookies, the coatings won’t stick because rum balls are so moist.
