The custody battle between Ted Lasso actor Jason Sudeikis and his ex-partner, actress and director Olivia Wilde, has escalated with accusations of “unfair and unfounded” behavior. Wilde filed court papers in California last month, alleging that Sudeikis had exhibited “egregious, unnecessary, and aggressive conduct” and had not paid any child support, while also claiming that she has paid for “100% of the costs of the children’s care” while they were with her. However, a source close to Sudeikis has denied these claims, stating that the couple shared costs equally, and that Sudeikis initiated the proceedings to ensure that their children would be properly cared for by both parents.
Wilde also requested that Sudeikis pay her £400,000 in legal fees, citing his greater wealth and income. The court papers revealed that Wilde has assets totaling £8 million and earns £32,000 per month, but spends £85,000 per month. The couple split in November 2020 after a seven-year engagement, shortly before Wilde began dating singer and actor Harry Styles, who starred in her film Don’t Worry Darling.
The couple’s split had been amicable for the first year, during which time they continued to split the family’s costs. However, the situation changed when Sudeikis initiated proceedings in November 2021, seeking a determination from the New York Family Court on arrangements for their children. The couple is now in a legal battle over which jurisdiction will determine the custody ruling, with Wilde filing her papers in LA.
Despite the ongoing legal dispute, the former couple appeared to be amicable when they attended their son’s sports game together last week.
