Miracle of Motherhood: Cat’s Unexpected Double Delivery

In a heartwarming story, a cat gave birth to two kittens, one after the other, with the second one arriving the following day. About six weeks later, this cat extended her motherly instincts to a tiny newborn kitten discovered in a grassy yard.
Initially, a pregnant stray cat was found and urgently needed a safe shelter. A compassionate individual took her in and reached out to a local cat rescue for assistance.
In response, a volunteer driver from Dorset Rescue Kittens promptly stepped up and transported the expecting mother to the rescue center on a three-hour journey. Shortly after their arrival, the cat, affectionately named Roo, gave birth to one kitten. However, no further arrivals were expected that day.
“We initially believed she only had one kitten on the way, so we placed her in a foster home,” Cherise of Dorset Rescue Kittens shared with Love Meow.
The following morning, Roo’s foster mom was surprised to find a second kitten born overnight.
The second kitten, named Boomer, immediately joined his brother, Joey, in nursing. “Even though Boomer was the second-born, he’s definitely the heavyweight of the two.”
Roo proved to be a wonderful mother to her precious duo, ensuring they were well-fed and impeccably clean. Over the next few weeks, the kittens grew, explored their surroundings, and achieved various milestones.
When the kittens were six weeks old, another newborn, just 1-2 days old, was brought to the rescue, requiring round-the-clock care.
This newborn kitten was found alone in a grassy yard, without its mother in sight. Despite searching for other kittens and waiting for the cat mom’s return, they found no one.
“They couldn’t locate anyone, so they brought the kitten to the rescue. Time is of the essence for a neonate, and they followed all the right steps to keep her warm and safe until placing her into our care.”
The kitten, named Coral, eagerly latched onto her bottle and displayed strong eating habits from the beginning. Despite her challenging start, she demonstrated a remarkable will to survive, embodying the spirit of “tiny but mighty.”
Meanwhile, Roo’s own kittens were transitioning to solid food, but she still had an abundant supply of milk.
The rescue made the decision to introduce Coral to Roo, allowing the tiny tabby kitten to receive the maternal love and care she longed for.
Roo readily accepted Coral and allowed her to nurse to her heart’s content. Within just two days, Roo took on all motherly responsibilities while showering the kitten with unconditional love.
The feline brothers immediately embraced their new companion, as if she had always been a part of their group.
Despite being the smallest of the trio, Coral managed to keep pace with her larger brothers, nursing alongside them like a champ. They snuggled together after each meal, forming an adorable purr pile.
“Little Coral is now 12 days old and has more than doubled her weight, which is excellent and right on track,” Cherise told Love Meow. “Her eyes are open, and she’s exploring wherever she wants to go.”
Joey and Boomer doted on their little sister from another mister, taking her under their wings and showing her the ropes.
This trio of tabby kittens had formed an inseparable bond, with Coral fitting in seamlessly as a brown tabby herself.
