Tragically, just two weeks following his surgery, Holmes suffered a fall down 18 stairs at his home with his wife Ruth Langsford. In addition to enduring chronic pain, the indomitable star revealed that he battled a severe case of shingles, which could have potentially caused blindness due to its proximity to his eyes. He attributed the outbreak to the stress of an unexpected tax dispute, where he was ordered to pay £250,000 following a court ruling that considered him an ITV employee for tax purposes.
Despite the turmoil and setbacks he faced, Holmes exemplified remarkable resilience.
