During the episode, it was announced that British country singer Alex Whalen had dropped out of the competition due to a medical reason. As a result, his intended Battle partner, Neil Salsich, performed solo and advanced to the Knockout Rounds by default. Blake Shelton, ever the Joker, teased Neil by saying that if he lost the Battle, it would be the worst fail in history, making a reference to former coach Adam Levine.

While it was a shame that Alex Whalen had to drop out, it was clear from Neil’s performance that he would have been a tough competitor. Even performing solo, Neil impressed the coaches and Blake praised him for owning the moment and blowing everyone away.

In another Battle, Niall Horan’s contestants struggled with the song they were given. However, Talia Smith, who had suffered a miscarriage before joining the competition, turned her elimination into a sweet and triumphant moment by announcing her pregnancy on stage. She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity and her excitement about sharing the experience with her future child.
