If you haven’t tried grilled pineapple before, you’re in for a treat. Grilling caramelizes the glaze on the outside, intensifying the pineapple’s natural sweetness. Pair it with sausage and bell pepper, and you’ll experience an almost tropical flavor explosion!
Make-ahead tip: You can prepare the skewers and glaze a day ahead, cover them, and refrigerate for easy entertaining. Just brush them with the glaze right before grilling.
How to Make Pineapple Sausage Skewers:
- In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup BBQ sauce, 1/4 cup maple syrup, and 2 tsp TABASCO® Sauce. Stir together and set aside.
- Thread sausage, pineapple pieces, red bell pepper, and red onion onto the skewer, alternating the ingredients as you add them.
- Brush skewers with marinade, then place them on the preheated BBQ, cover, and grill for 3 minutes on the first side. Turn, brush with more marinade, and grill for about 2 minutes per side, brushing with more marinade as you turn the skewers. Grill until vegetables are cooked to your desired doneness (total grilling time: 10-12 minutes).
