Recently, everyone in my circle has been following the Keto diet. I’ve immersed myself in everything Keto for the past few years, from hearing about it to researching and cooking Keto meals. It’s safe to say that my life now revolves around Keto.
In fact, I even joked that if someone utters the word “Keto” in my presence, they owe a dollar to the swear jar. And if you’re not familiar with what a swear jar is, you’ve probably never worked as a waiter in college.
However, this Egg Roll in a Bowl isn’t just for Keto enthusiasts; it’s a dish I regularly prepare for my family, whether they are on the Keto diet or not.
WHY IS THIS KETO OR LOW-CARB?
Don’t be intimidated if you’re not on the Keto diet. The Keto diet is a very low-carb diet, and this recipe is perfect for it, with only 3 grams of net carbs.
WHAT IS IN EGG ROLL IN A BOWL?
Traditional egg rolls contain ground pork (or beef), cabbage, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil. To give it extra flavor, we’ve added some sriracha and green onions.
DOES AN EGG ROLL HAVE AN EGG IN IT?
Interestingly, a traditional egg roll does not contain egg in the filling. Its name comes from the egg used to seal the egg roll wrapper. However, in this Egg Roll in the Bowl, we do add an egg at the end of cooking to enhance the flavor and provide extra protein.
If you’re following the Keto diet, eggs are your best friend and a fantastic addition to this Asian-inspired Egg Roll in a Bowl.
WHAT KIND OF MEAT DO I USE?
You can use either pork or beef in this recipe. When following the Keto diet, it’s crucial to use high-quality meat with healthy fats. Opt for grass-fed, organic meat because it’s lower in calories, rich in healthy fats (high in omega-3s), and supports normal blood sugar levels.
WHAT TO EAT WITH EGG ROLL IN A BOWL?
To be honest, you don’t need much else with this dish; it’s a complete meal on its own!
