A cat who endured severe burns in a fire has undergone a miraculous recovery and is now in search of a new home.
Reported by the Arizona Humane Society in a press release, in April, a 7-month-old stray domestic shorthaired cat named Libby suffered severe burns during a fire in Downtown Phoenix.
The unfortunate feline suffered burns on her paw pads, ears, and nose, with melted plastic on her body and singed hair and whiskers.
She was moved from a local emergency clinic to AHS’ trauma hospital, commencing her path to recovery. Libby received subcutaneous fluids, antibiotic, and pain medications. Her wounds were treated, and she was monitored for possible respiratory damage due to smoke inhalation.
Following a month of treatment, she was placed in a foster home and underwent additional medical procedures, continuing her healing journey.
After months of recovery, Libby, now 11 months old, has sufficiently healed to be put up for adoption and is actively seeking her forever home.
Libby is awaiting adoption at the Arizona Humane Society’s South Mountain Campus. Those interested in adopting can visit their adoption website. The AHS has reduced all adoption fees to just $20 until month-end, thanks to the “Empty the Shelters Adoption Event” sponsored by the BISSELL Pet Foundation.
We are delighted that Libby has made such an incredible recovery and are optimistic that she will find her permanent home soon! Many thanks to everyone who contributed to her care.
