Tips for Growing Tulips : Make an economical fertilizer
Posted October 18, 2023 by: Admin
This is the season of colors, and blooming tulips are the undisputed protagonists of spring’s rebirth. Fiery and elegant, they triumph on balconies and terraces, in parks and gardens, standing out like cheerful palettes amidst the emerald green lawns.
They belong to the bulbous family, just like daffodils, hyacinths, freesias, ranunculuses, and more.
Plant them now, care for them delicately, and they will generously reward you by summer, creating a corner almost painted, envied by neighbors and passersby!
And to accomplish this task, discover how to make a truly effective, DIY fertilizer from waste, without cost!
Colorful and Luxuriant Tulips: Here’s How to Do It
The ideal soil for planting tulips and bulbs is well-drained and soft, well-lit but not directly exposed to sunlight. Keep them in a rather dry place, sheltered from drafts and rain.
Do not use solid fertilizers, which are too heavy for their delicate bulbs, as they may feel oppressed and suffocated, making it hard for them to bloom. Opt for a liquid fertilizer, which is lighter and easily absorbable, but don’t overuse it to avoid dilution.
And the best part is, without resorting to expensive and hard-to obtain chemicals, you can make it yourself safely and at no cost.
So, gather:
- Water, 300 ml
- Banana, just 1 peel
- Coffee, 3 coffee grounds or 3 pods
The banana provides potassium, which is very useful for making your flowers luxuriant, while the coffee releases nitrogen that oxygenates and brings out vibrant colors.
In an airtight container, put the water, coffee grounds, and the banana peel cut into small pieces. Close the lid and let it infuse for 12 hours.
Strain the contents directly into a watering can and use it to water the soil approximately every two weeks. You’ll witness an exceptional blooming!
