Renowned folk singer Roger Whittaker, known for his hit song “Durham Town” and whistling talents, has passed away at 87. His career began in folk clubs, and he achieved fame with songs like “The Skye Boat Song,” a duet with Des O’Connor in 1986. Other notable hits include “The Last Farewell” and “New World in the Morning,” with over 50 million records sold worldwide.

Eventually, his passion for music led him to the UK, where he studied and began composing songs during his time at Bangor University.
