The man, known only as Ron, had a gut feeling that something was wrong when he came across a phone while walking his dog three weeks ago.
The phone belonged to Nicola, a mother of two who has been missing since January 27th. Ron was familiar with Nicola, as she and her partner, Paul Ansell, were the owners of the dog he walked most mornings. When he turned on the phone, a photo of Nicola and Paul appeared on the wallpaper. Ron didn’t know their names, but he recognized them as Willow’s owners.
When Ron found the phone, he thought someone had just left it there. But as he walked further and began to feel that something wasn’t right, he began to investigate. “Because of the wallpaper on the phone we found out who the couple were, and the school was contacted and Paul arrived,” Ron said. He gave a statement to the police and has been reflecting on the three weeks since Nicola disappeared.
Today, on the three-week anniversary of Nicola’s disappearance, her father Ernie spoke out about how difficult it has been for the family. Ernie is waiting for a breakthrough and hoping for the best. However, there has been a police backlash.
The police were ordered to explain why they released Nicola’s personal information and struggles with alcohol and menopause. The Lancashire Police confirmed that Nicola was treated as a high-risk missing person when she disappeared. The family broke their silence yesterday and issued a statement from the police, urging the public to “focus on finding her”.
Nicola’s sister Louise Cunningham marked the three-week anniversary of Nicola’s disappearance with a heartfelt plea on Facebook. She posted a photo of her, Nicola, and their mother Dot, along with the message: “Three weeks today without you home. We all miss you so much, time to come home now.” Nicola was last seen wearing a black quilted gilet jacket with a black Engelbert Strauss waist-length coat underneath and black tight-fitting jeans.
She had green walking socks, ankle-length green Next wellies, a necklace, and a pale blue Fitbit on. She has an Essex accent and links to the Thornton-Cleveleys area near Blackpool. Anyone with information about her whereabouts is urged to call 101 or ring 999 for immediate sightings, quoting log 473 of January 27th.
